Labelling swings without forcing symmetry
Why equal-looking legs on a chart can mislead, and how we teach swing marks in Dev Frame lessons.
New students often try to make every pullback mirror the last. Markets rarely cooperate. In our first intensive evening we practise marking only the swings that change who is in control — the points that later define a break of structure.
Start on a higher timeframe than you trade. Place a swing high where price last showed a clear failure to continue upward, not merely where a wick looks tidy. If two candidate highs sit close together, prefer the one that attracted a decisive displacement away from it. The goal is a map you can explain in one sentence, not a lacework of micro-labels.
When symmetry tempts you, write the question beside the chart: “What evidence would prove this label wrong?” If the answer is vague, the label is decorative. Bring that honesty into the next session open and you will skip half the impulsive entries that come from overdrawn structure.
